The legend of Campaccio Cross Country will write another chapter the 6th of January with the 58th edition. Hundreds of athletes are registered in the Amateur and in the Juniores, young runners that are future, the root of our athletic, future medalists in World Champing and, we hope, Olympics.

Organizing an event with such an high level is not simple, long time contacts with the managers of the best athletes in the world are really important and thanks to the Sport Director Marcello Magnani another great athlete will be at the starting line: Betsy Saina. From Kenya.

Born in 1988, athlete from the Uplands but who run in America, her profile is in line with the others major competitors in this year Campaccio. Betsy is a professional since two years, but she had a brilliant career at the University of Iowa State winning the NCAA cross title in 2012. In 2014, she made the seventh world best on 5000m with 14’39”49, and the third world best on 10000m with 30’57”30, Betsy Saina is the world leader 2014 on 10km with 30’46” made in Tilburg in the Netherlands last September. In October, she debuted in the half marathon in Boston, closing fourth with 1h09’27”.

Very excited for her return to cross country: “After the college this will be my retrurn in cross and also my European debut in this discipline. I heard very good stories about Campaccio, they told me its history and I’am honoured by the invitation. I will run just another cross after Campaccio before dedicating to indoor and then outdoor, my focus for the 2015. I hope Campaccio will be a good starting point for a great year”.

She is back in Europe after a long training in Iten, Keny and she is ready to compete with the other top runners: “ I am feeling good, I had an intensive training at home and at the Kiplagat centre, I just hope it will not be too cold. Then I want to have fun: when I am relaxed I can run better and faster and I have not fear of the other great athletes that will be at the starting line”.
