The traditional Campaccio Cross Country race
will take place on Sunday 6th January. The entries are still open
and an increasing number of athletes of any age from the youths to the masters have
entered for this cross country race which boasts a strong historic tradition.
Running the Camapccio Cross Country race means taking part in a legendary race.
For youth athletes it’s a great experience. For older athletes it means to
revive emotional moments. Four days before the race no less than 1000 runners
have entered for the race, a figure in line with the past editions which raises
the hope for a new record.
US RUNNERS – As already announced by Athletes’
Manager Marcello Magnani during the press conference some days ago, the
Campaccio is aiming to buil an American tradition. US runners Scott Bauhs and
Kim Conley have been confirmed to run the Campaccio. The 26-year-old US runner Scott
Bauhs showed his good form on Monday 31st December at the Boclassic
when he finished fourth behind winner Imane Merga, the reigning World Cross
Country champion. Scott Bauhs ran a 10000 metres PB of 27:48.06 in Palo Alto in
May 2008 and finished 14th in the 10000 metres at the IAAF World
Championships in Daegu. US runner Kim Conley, who was born in 1986, set her
5000 m PB of 15:48.48 at the US Olympic Trials for the London Games.
