A world-class name has been added to the prestigious line-up
of the Campaccio Cross Country race, the first of the two Italian legs of the
IAAF Permits Meetings.
Ethiopian Hiwot Ayalew, world cross country silver
medallist in 2013, won the last two editions of the IAAF Permits Meeting in
Atapuerca in 2012 and 2013.
As confirmed by Technical Director Marcello Magnani
Ayalew will face a world class field led by 3000 m steeplechase world champion
Milcah Chemos and three-time world cross country silver medallist and former
10000 m world champion Linet Masai.
Hiwot Ayalew finished fifth in the 3000m steeplechase at the
Olympic Games in London and fourth at the World Championships in Moscow over
the same distance. She was also silver medallist at the 2011 African
Championships.
The Ethiopian star clocked her personal best of 9:09.61 in the
Diamond League in Oslo in 2012, won the Diamond League meeting in Lausanne in
9:17.66 and finished third in Brussels in 9:15.85.
