VERONICA INGLESE: “CAMPACCIO TO START AGAIN”
It’s record: 1554 partecipants

(San Giorgio su Legnano) – Is the day before 59th Campaccio Cross Country organized by Sangiorgese and second stage of Iaaf Cross Country Permit, the world cross-country circuit.
 Yesterday, as the registrations closed, the confirmation that this race still fascinates the runners and it grows every year. It is record: with 1554 registrations. 
Today at the PalaBertelli took place the Congress organized by Officina Atletica, in partnership with Us Sangiorgese and Centro Studi Fidal, the topic: ‘CROSS AND MARATHON – Similarities between the two”, the speakers were Stefano Baldini, Piero Incalza and the Italian National team technical director. At the beginning was the presentation of the top athletes that tomorrow will try to win. Unfortunately two of them will not be at the start, number 2 Albert Rop and number 156 Virginia Nyambura.

Confirmed all the athletes already announced: the “azzurri” Stefano La Rosa,  Giuseppe Gerratana and  Yeman Crippa. The Ethiopian Imane Merga, the Olympic medallist Thomas Longosiwa, the Kenyans Jairus Birech e Abraham Cheroben, the Ethiopian Asin Haji  , Abdallah Kibet Mande from Uganda and junior world champion of mountain running in 2014. Definitely between the top runners the two Polish Krystian Zalewski e Krzysztof Zebrowski.

In the women’s, race Veronica Inglese, Silvia La Barbera, Sara Dossena, Barbara Bressi, Valeria Roffino, Sara Brogiato.
 Certainly it’s Veronica Inglese the most anticipated of the Italian girls: “I’m back to competition in November after one and half year stop for several injuries. In the last few races I was not completely recovered so I start again from Campaccio. I need cross-country to prepare the summer season, my goal are the 10000m track field, I want to set my personal best, then the European Championship. I also want to make an half marathon then the marathon with a big target? The 42km in Tokyo 2020”.

Competing in the women race, the Kenyans Alice Aprot and Mercy Cherono, from Bahrain Ruth Jebet great steeplechase runner and Olympic finalist Linet Masai from Kenya, Olympic finalist, 4th in Beijing in 10000mt and bronze medallist at the 2011 World Championship. Then Nicole Bush from USA, the English Lily Partridge and the Ethiopian Sofia Assefa.
